On the north shore of Oahu we stumbled on a park in which all the shops already closed down for the day,
so we were able to have the entire place to ourselves. As you can see below, it was really pretty and relaxing.
In the evening, we went to Waikiki and had dinner on the beach. Later that night, we boarded a 1:00am
flight to Sydney and relaxed in Qantas' Business Class lounge back at the airport.

We flew into Sydney, a 9 hour flight from Hawaii and then immediately jumped on the next flight
to Cairns in northeast Australia. It did not surprise us that our bags did not arrive so we picked up
the rental car and Amy took the wheel and drove on the other side of the road.

We arrived at our first destination, Thala Beach Resort in Pt. Douglas, a few miles north of Cairns and
stayed at a really nice place that had separate bungalows nestled in the woods overlooking the
beach. Here is a view at breakfast below with fresh tropical fruit on the table (some varieties of which
we never heard of) and of course Vegemite which Amy didn't think it tasted too bad.  The next day
we took a helicopter flight over the rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.
